we had a substitute in painting this week, this is the still life composed by a man who painted happy layouts for lilo and stitch. headless mannequin? ball pit ball and heater? We have to make it creepy he said. I could not agree more.
Peter showed us an artist that uses line weights to make really busy drawings read. His name is Luc Desmarchelier and he's a stud with line. I was in class thinking about how I wish I could draw like that guy and figured there was no better time than the present. It was no Luc Desmarchelier, but a fun venture.
we were supposed to draw trees for layout class this week and I had to cheat a little bit and draw a tree that I know isn't in redmond. I used old school pen and ink, scanned and painted flats in photoshop. almost looks like a nice t-shirt design
This last weeks plein air painting, next week were moving indoors to paint some interior environments. I will continue to paint outside on my own for homework.
this the the 85 percent complete version my character model. Im sure my professors will give me plenty to fix so I say 85 percent. Looking forward to taking things to the next level with this guy. No pun intended.
Here is the basic shapes of prancelots head rendered from my file in 3DS Max. I'm working on the body right now,and I will probably update with the all of it put together next.
For Art 230 weve hit the ground running, im happy to really be diving into a medium that I really want to feel confident with. The day started overcast, then got sunny for about an hour and then went back to being cloudy. The result really made it confuding for me to choose colors and values. Im really looking forward to doing more of this kind of thing.
