My sister introduced me to a new medium this past week. I thought you needed fancy and expensive screen printing technology to make your own shirt designs.
Our team has been putting in some really solid work on the game these past few weeks. We are about to cross the threshold where our game goes from looking like a wierd mix of unfinished 3D assets to GAME! Next semester will be more hard work and a lot of icing.
Here is the current progress of both of my sculpting projects. Elvis needs a bit more poly painting and a solid pose, while the stump back needs just about everything.
My blogging frequency has really been in decline since spending a majority of my time posting to our game team site. Here are two more environment props I have recently concepted.
I am still working towards the completion of Space Elvis. In the meantime I am also working on the early stages of the next sculpt which will be a quadruped. This is Stumpback.
We finally replaced the placeholder title of our upcoming game project. Wasted Youth was giving players a weird sort of high school dropout vibe. Anyways, Here is a quick dump of a few different concepts I have been doing for the project.
This is a quick snapshot of where Space Elvis is as of now. We are just now finishing up the low poly models to bring into z-brush and begin sculpting next week. I am very excited about this project so far.
This is a piece I have been working on this week trying to tie down some color script information as well as determining how many levels of detail the background will contain. Whats is 3d? versus what we will make a static background painting in the game.
This is the character model sheet for Z-brush class. I am really looking forward to doing a lot of really frustrating work in that class. I am sure it will be worth it for my portfolio.
This is a process piece I am working on for our game style guide. It is basically a step by step that helps the artists make sure that our work has a consistent look and style.
This is a painting that hopefully will reflect what our in game geometry will look like assuming we can firgure out how to translate this with shaders and texture maps.
A series of images that follow the process I often go through taking a concept from a line drawing to a full value color illustration. In our story the children live in a world that has been trashed and left to rot for several years.
I Saw this amazing building on the Seattle architectural tour that was straight off of the pages of a Batman comic. I used it as a photo plate to make this mood peice. Watch it in super fast forward on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1afGRzH3KZw
I finally have a youtube channel so I can post videos of the painting process. You can look for videos posted by MrBeauBateman, yeah thats not a joke...MrBeauBateman. I think it will sound cooler with time and more hits. Follow this link for an HD video of the painting posted above.
